As a photographer, I got my start shooting promotional and production photography in the Hudson Valley. I sort of consider it my photographic roots!
So whenever I go back to those roots and shoot promotional photographs for a theatrical production, it's important to me that I make sure the images still resonate with my style and my ethos.
For a recent production at the Center for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck
I worked with an amazing director, Kevin, that I have a long standing relationship with. So we knew that we trusted each other's vision and could work together to overcome any obstacles that came up during the shoot.
And boy did Mother Nature have some obstacles!
When Kevin came to me looking for Promotional Photographs for a production of "Into the Woods" I knew that we would have to make the outdoors into our studio in order to truly incorporate a fantasy, fairytale feel!
But on the day of our scheduled shoot it was 20 degrees out!
Instead of rescheduling the shoot, I packed hand warmers and layered up. Every few minutes I would have to stop shooting and bundle my camera up under my coat. But that was nothing compared to what the actors went through by being in their costumes in the snow!
They absolutely amazed me with their dedication to the fantasy story we were creating together! Kevin helped keep everyone's spirits up and with lighting and posing we were able to instill some incredible glamour into the promotional photos!
It's fun to see how to make a story come alive with a little bit of fairytale charm and a little bit of my brand of glamour! If you're looking for promotional photographs for an upcoming theatrical performance, get in touch with me!
